We have all heard the saying “the money is in the list”, and now you have decided that you need one. You have read more than your fair share of articles, and the numerous “success stories” from people who have created a small fortune with opt-in lists.

Then comes the stumbling block. Being the eager person that you are, you think you have read everything there is to read about opt-in lists, and with all the ebooks that you have bought, you have followed all the experts advice to the letter, yet you still aren’t able to make anything that even remotely resembles a profit.

In fact, you may already be losing money. You may have hired copy writers to help you out, there are usual expenses incurred with auto-responders, even if you have a big list, only a very small percentage of the readers actually buy from you. This means that you are still losing profit. You’ll you haven’t already, you will realize this after a few months when you see the statistics and sales figures from you websites.

What could have possibly gone wrong?
Why have all the others succeeded and you failed?
Not surprisingly, the most common mistake you have made, is that you just dived straight in.
You chose the topic you thought would be quite popular and earn you money. Unfortunately. this is just not the case.
Just because you wrote to the people from your list, it doesn’t mean they are going to buy instantly.

Now I will offer some more advice, for those who have an opt-in list and have failed, it is possible to rejuvenate your failed venture.
For those who are just starting out, here are three quick and easy ways to help you build a profitable opt-in list.

1) Get your readers to trust you and your list first.
Just launching an opt-in list does not make you an expert or a believable seller. Put up as many articles as you can, before you start the opt-in list. Write about the topic you have chosen and used for your site. Check out a couple of different forums first to gain any needed knowledge about your readers, and their wants and needs, then target those wants and needs.

Join forums on other sites too. You can provide expert advice and any requested recommendations. When you feel that these people trust you, you will be able to start your opt-in list. You can build a subscriber base with other forum users. You can ask them if the want to join your list. Friends are always good customers. You may be able to include a link to your site as part of you signature file, so that others are able to see what your business is all about.

Now there is one certain truth. The money will only come in and grow when the consumers and your subscribers believe & trust in you. They only want a product or service that is a good exchange for their hard earned money.
Nobody is going to buy something out of your recommendation if they don’t know you.

2) Find the product or services that people want & need.
Although it may not be your forte, if you provide a service or product that you have researched and learned about, you can carry it on forward.
Invest your time, effort and money so that you can find products that the buyers or subscribers of your opt-in list can use.

Whilst it may be true that it is best to sell something that you have interest in and know about, there are not too many people who have the same interests as you if you decide to sell something that is not entirely popular or profitable.
Do your homework and research well and you could see the profits come in. Also provide your subscribers with promotional material that they can actually use to spread around.

3) Make friends with other opt-in list owners.
This can be extremely beneficial, especially if it is someone that already has launched a successful opt-in list. These are the people who have the experience in these ventures, and experience is still regarded as the best teacher. Whilst there are many many articles available for you on the internet to use, there is nothing like getting a first hand account of what to do from someone you trust.

Experienced opt-in list owners will be able to tell you what to do and what not to do. Usually because they have gone through these things too. Whilst different situations occur for different people, a general concept can still be very helpful. There are many things traps to avoid and these people will be able to tell you what they are.

Building a profitable opt-in list won’t just happen overnight.
There are preparations that have to be made and some require effort to do. Opt-in lists are all built from scratch, As your list grows, you should also maintain the quality of your readers in your list.
Keep it organized and manageable. Get or hire help if need you need it, Just make sure that your subscribers are happy & satisfied and they will usually be willing to buy from you.

Starting out on the road to being able to give up work forever, and financial freedom, you will be presented with a huge range of options and different possibilities. So much so that for the new entrepreneur the choices may appear overwhelming. There may also be the temptation to get swept away by all the glossy advertising and promises of quick gains.

So much has been said about the online variety of multi-level marketing (MLM). Whilst there are a lot of people that claim it is a marvelous new way of earning an income from the World Wide Web, there an equal number of people that condemn it for so many reasons.Reasons that are borne out of fears that they have with something as seemingly novel as online MLM programs.

The curious thing is, Which of these fears are true, and which are false?
A more closer study of some of these issues raised about online MLM programs, reveal the truth behind the fears.

1. Online MLM is a “get rich quick” scheme.
This can’t be further from the truth. To succeed, you will still have to invest time and effort to achieve the highest possible success in this field. Online MLM will not gain for you passive income, at least not immediately. You will still have to develop your network and stack it with those dedicated individuals from whose efforts you will earn the lower tiered commissions.

2. Online MLM is a pyramid scheme.
This is another myth. Online MLM is a more creative kind of direct selling. Basically, a person is a customer of the online MLM program, though unlike other setups, he is given the opportunity to earn money because of his purchase.

3. Online MLM is illegal.
It is not. If online MLM is illegal, direct selling should likewise be considered as unlawful. Online MLM, after all, is a form of direct selling by its very nature. Illegal scams are usually discovered and closed down before they do too much harm.

4. Online MLM is just as unstable as any pyramid scheme.
This is another false myth. Pyramid schemes fail because they don’t have any capital to rely on. The price of these packages vary, just the same as they do for the more traditional direct marketing systems.

7. Online MLM is just a fad.
Multi-level marketing has been successful for many enterprises since the 60’s. With the introduction of the internet, the online variety is the logical evolution of this system. Surely, something that has become a popular sales technique for such a long time cannot be considered as a mere fad.

8. Online MLM programs are scams.
Though some fraudulent companies do use MLM programs to hide their devious schemes, a majority of MLM programs are legit. The responsibility to determine credible MLM programs from dishonest ones lies at the feet of the enrollee. As with everything, due diligence is required before committing to any undertaking, no matter how good it looks.

Online MLM programs offer great opportunities for an amazing income which you could savor and enjoy. Hesitations, of course, are always healthy in endeavors like this. Try to investigate your fears and you’ll discover that online MLM programs are safe investments that hold so much promise.

I would say that it is a pretty safe guess to say that all of us would love to be able to give up work forever, and spend our day doing what we want to do, rather than going to a job that we don’t really want to do.

2) You have a rich relative that passes away, and leaves you their fortune.

As with most things in life, there are pros and cons with all of the above. By far the easiest way to be able to give up work forever, is to find a legitimate home based business.
With a home based business, you have potential tax advantages, where things that you buy may be able to be written off as a business expense.
